Todwick CCTV Survey

Following feedback from the Parish Survey, recent discussions in Council meetings, and suggestions from parishioners, we are proposing to have CCTV installed at several locations in the village. The proposed locations are as shown below

As part of the process, we need to make everyone aware and also invite any comments or concerns. Therefore, please either comment on this post, email the councillors, or come along to our next meeting on Tuesday 29th April

  1. Megan Holroyd says:

May I ask how and by whom is the monitored? If this was published previously I’m sorry I missed the details. Also perhaps the map identifying locations as Kiverton should be corrected to Kiveton.

  2. The cameras (like all in the borough) will be linked to the central CCTV control in Rotherham. The scheme is no different to the main CCTV system in Rotherham and other towns, cities and villages up and down the country. Our neighbouring villages have them e.g Woodsetts, Harthill, parts of Swallownest and Thorpe Salvin and Anston are in the process of undertaking similar projects.

Their purpose is for the prevention and detection of crime, anti social behaviour and for the safety of the public.

The film will be recorded and maintained in the central facility. Data protection restrictions will be adhered to and no person other than the control room personnel will have access. Recordings can only be viewed by the police as part of their legitimate investigations into crime or incidents that have occurred in the village.

The recordings will be stored in accordance with the requirements of the Data protection legislation permits or for such length of time they are required for evidential purposes and production to the courts as such.

As for the comment re the misspelling of Kiverton. The plan was prepared by the CCTV team and is a simple typo
